2010/08/21 • In commemoration of the centenary of William James's death, Harvard University's Houghton Library has created "Life is in the transitions: William James, 1842-1910", a web exhibition curated by Linda Simon.

2010/06/22 • IN MEMORIAM: Sergio Franzese (1963-2010). Sergio, a philosophy professor at the University of Lecce, was one of the most active William James scholars in Europe. He earned two doctorates in philosophy, one from the University of Pisa and the other from Vanderbilt University. Recently, he had published The Ethics of Energy: William James' Moral Philosophy in Focus. His keen mind, warm heart, and energetic spirit will be greatly missed.

2009/11/25 • CALL FOR PAPERS: "In the Footsteps of William James: A Symposium to Honor – and Make Use of – James's Ideas." The William James Society is currently considering papers for presentation at a 4-day symposium to honor the life of William James on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death. The event will be sponsored by the Society, in cooperation with the Chocorua Community Association and Harvard University's Houghton Library, from August 13 to 16, 2010. [INFO]

2009/06/29 • A biography of William James, adapted from the first chapter of On James by permission of the authors, has been added to the Cybrary. Many thanks to Profs. Hester and Talisse!

2009/04/15 • J.C. Hallman, author of The devil is a gentleman: exploring America's religious fringe, has just had his latest book The hospital for bad poets published by Milkweed Editions. Among other literary works, Hallman cites William James's The varieties of religious experience as having been indispensable in creating this wonderful and surreal collection of short stories.

2009/03/01 • IN MEMORIAM: Gerald Myers (1924-2009). Gerald E. Myers, a William James scholar and philosopher in residence of the American Dance Festival, died on February 11th at his home in New London, Connecticut.

2008/01/03 • IN MEMORIAM: Peter H. Hare (1935-2008). Peter Hare died on Wednesday, January 3, 2008. At the time of his death he was SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at SUNY at Buffalo, where he had taught from 1962 to 2001. Peter was a long-time editor of the journal Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society. He served as president of several philosophical organizations, including the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy, which gave him its highest honour, the Herbert W. Schneider Award. Peter was also a generous and enthusiastic supporter of the William James Cybrary. He will be greatly missed.

William James Studies is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high quality, scholarly articles related to the life, work and influence of William James. 2007/11/08 • The William James Cybrary is now associated with Amazon.com. For every book bought through the William James Cybrary aStore, the Cybrary will receive 4% of the cost at no extra expense to customers. All money earned will be used to help pay for the operational costs of the Cybrary.
